British outdoor advertising specialist Maiden Group does not expect to meet full-year turnover forecasts for 2002 after figures for December showed a marked slowdown in business growth.

The firm’s sales spent last year recovering from January’s nadir, but December’s rate of expansion was much slower than in the preceding months, prompting Maiden to warn that 2002 turnover would grow by a low single-digit percentage, below predictions made in September.

However, there are encouraging signs for 2003. Sales are up 50% year-on-year in January, while current bookings for February are already 23% higher than final takings for the same month in 2002.
