LONDON: The battle of the UK capital's free newspapers appears to have a victor in the shape of News International's thelondonpaper, according to ABC figures which show a rise of 12% in its November circulation.

The afternoon title, launched in early September, is beating Associated Newspaper's rival freebie London Lite and seriously wounding sales of the latter's long-established paid-for stablemate, the Evening Standard.

News International is the UK arm of News Corporation.
