London startup shop Ben Mark Orlando is now Ben-less just eight weeks after opening its doors for business.

Founder member Ben Langdon, along with equally high profile partners Mark Wnek and Orlando Hooper-Greenhill, proclaimed at the launch: "The use of our Christian names is a symbol of our personal commitment to our clients and, believe it or not, the relaxed and fun culture we're determined to create in our agency [WAMN: 12-Jan-04]."

But Ben's personal commitment did not, it seems, extend to his partners. The bigtime lure of Euro RSCG Worldwide apparently had greater appeal than the "relaxed and fun culture", hence Langdon's desertion this week to the greener grass of the Havas-owned network whose UK operation he will chair.

Langdon, whose pugilistic exploits match his advertising reputation, was formerly European regional director of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup -- from whence he walked the plank last June.

At McCann he reported to the network's global chairman/ceo Jim Heekin, who now fills the same role at Euro RSCG.
