ROME: Italian broadband provider Fastweb and News Corporation-owned satellite broadcaster Sky Italia have inked a deal which allows the former to offer the latter's 60-plus TV channels to broadband customers via Internet Protocol Television.

As part of the agreement, Sky Italia will try to sell Fastweb's broadband and telephony services to its satellite-TV customers. The broadcaster says it is keen to use broadband to reach new audiences for its TV content.

Although the two companies will be marketing each others' services and Fastweb will pump Sky Italia's TV channels through its own broadband network, each company will bill clients separately. That arrangement preserves the relationship each company has with its customer base.
