Above the door it will read Langdon and Wnek

Or maybe Wnek and Langdon.

The sensitive issue of precedence has yet to be decided, possibly because space has to be left for a third name -- that of an account planner, chosen but as yet anonymous for diplomatic reasons.

The London-based agency will open its doors in January, headed by Ben Langdon, former regional director of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup who walked the deep-pile plank earlier this year. He will stand shoulder-to-shoulder (both above and below the door) with Mark Wnek, quondam chairman of Euro RSCG Group UK.

The portentous prose associated with ambitious new shops was in full spate. "Our core philosophy is big, experienced people and big advertising ideas -- without all the pain of going to a big agency," Langdon told UK trade magazine Campaign.

Said Wnek of his late employer: "I'm glad to leave the London agency on a high and with a great new team at the helm." But the response from Euro RSCG network president Jim Heekin was curiously cool: "This is a mutual thing," he said, adding that a replacement for Wnek will be announced soon.
