No prize for guessing who set off last week's rumors that Havas chairman/ceo Alain de Pouzilhac had resigned.

But de Pouzilhac remains defiantly at the helm of Havas despite his bitter feud with corporate raider Vincent Bolloré, who now holds around 22% of the group with the support of a further 4% committed by ally Sebastian Holdings.

Or, more accurately, de Pouzilhac remains in situ at least until today's meeting of the Havas board - its first since the dramatic rout of the de Pouzilhac camp at Havas' annual meeting on June 9. Whether or not he will survive that ordeal remains to be seen.

Word from within the raider's redoubt at Bolloré Media Investissements, is that Jean-Marie Dru (58), currently ceo of TBWA Worldwide, is waiting in the wings for de Pouzilhac to walk the platinum plank.
