DETROIT: Anne Belec, Ford's director of global marketing, is to leave the troubled auto giant after 24 years, apparently unable to resist the traditional lure for outgoing executives, namely the chance to "pursue other interests".

Belec took up the role of director of global marketing in January 2008, moving from her position as president/ceo of Volvo Cars North America

She also previously worked with Ford's operation in Canada, as well as its Lincoln Mercury unit, and, spent 18 months as vice president of global sales operations at Volvo's Swedish headquarters.

In an email sent to colleagues, reported by Advertising Age, she said: "I don't know what the future will hold or where I will end up this time, but I have faith that my training at Ford will serve me well in a next career. The possibilities are exciting."
