NEW YORK: Disgraced cable patriarch John Rigas (82) and his son Timothy (51) were this week ordered by a US District Judge to report on Monday August 13 to an unidentified prison to commence their respective fifteen and twenty year sentences.

Their request to remain free on bail whilst awaiting an appeal to the US Supreme Court was denied.

Father and son were convicted in July 2004 on eighteen counts of accounting fraud and conspiracy in the wake of Adelphia's collapse into bankruptcy two years earlier.

Despite the pending appeal, Judge John Sand ruled Wednesday that the guilty duo must begin paying their debt to society.

Declared His Honor: "Too much time has elapsed from the time of conviction of these defendants on these very serious charges and the time they begin serving sentence."
