Memac Ogilvy & Mather Dubai and Starcom MediaVest Group Dubai both won big at the 2010 Dubai Lynx Awards yesterday (March 17th).

The two agencies were named Agency of the Year and Media Agency of the Year respectively at the ceremony, held in the Dubai Media City complex. In all, 156 prizes were handed out, including eight grands prix.

Elephant Cairo won two of the top awards, including the Print Grand Prix for Sima Food Industries' 'Out of this World' campaign for Lika Gum.

Meanwhile, the Integrated Grand Prix went to Elephant's '89 Fans from 89' campaign for Coca-Cola, commemorating an especially infamous milestone in the bitter football rivalry between the Egyptian and Algerian national teams.

The Direct and Sales Promotion Grand Prix went to the 'Dustvertising' campaign for BP Visco Engine Oil, created by Memac Ogilvy & Mather Dubai, while Memac Ogilvy Label Tunisia scooped the Interactive Grand Prix for SFTP’s 'Boga Cidre' ad.

Saudi Arabian state telecoms service STC won Advertiser of the Year and Ramzi Raad - chairman/ceo of TBWA/RAAD Middle East - was named 2010's Advertising Person of the Year.

Elsewhere, the Hive Awards, a new ceremony with the stated aim of recognising the internet's "unsung heroes", were handed out late last week at the SXSW Interactive Festival.

RGA was the night's big winner, with a total of eight prizes. The digital agency was recognised for its work for HBO.com (best E-commerce site), and its NIKEiD iPhone App.

Other multiple prizewinners were Firstborn, which won six Hive Awards, and Sapient Interactive, which won five.
