SAN ANTONIO, Texas: The chief marketing officer of Cingular Wireless Marc LeFar has resigned from the firm's new parent company, telco giant AT&T. His role is filled by David Christopher, former vp-product management.

Christopher will oversee the marketing of Apple Computer's iPhone, to which AT&T has multiyear exclusive sales rights via its mobile unit.

LeFar is zip-lipped about his move and a company spokesman would say only that he "wanted to do something else".
