BOEBLINGEN - The automaking giant is to revamp its Smart urban car unit to the tune of €1 billion ($1.2bn; £688m) this year as it axes the four-passenger model to focus on the iconic two-seater.
German-headquartered DaimlerChrysler says it is still considering whether to launch the loss-making marque in the US. However, the new version of its flagship ForTwo model will be built to American safety and environmental standards.
