As part of the festival’s plan to extend its learning opportunities throughout the year, Cannes Lions has announced a new series of online courses, produced in conjunction with the digital learning provider 42 Courses.

The new suite of learning products will extend the reach of Lions training content to creative marketers around the world, far beyond the festival’s previous reach.

Courses will explore some of the fundamental elements of creative marketing. The first to be made available is a course on storytelling.

The course features practical, step-by-step masterclasses from high profile creative leaders from around the world, as well as insights from the festival itself and Lion-winning work to provide tangible skills.

Among the industry experts contributing to the course are:

  • Keith Reinhard (Chairman Emeritus, DDB)
  • Debbi Vandeven (Global Chief Creative Officer at VMLY&R)
  • Rory Sutherland (Ogilvy UK Vice-Chairman)
  • Gabriela Lungu (Founder, WINGS Creative Leadership Lab).
The new offer adds to the Cannes Lions School, which takes place during the festival in June. It is designed to bring an extensive list of training courses to young festival attendees and has been a core part of the Young Lions experience since 1995.

This year, Nick Law, Chief Creative Officer Publicis Groupe and President of Publicis Communications at Publicis Groupe will be Chairperson of the Cannes Lions School, in which he will guide Young Lions onsite at the festival.

Young Lions are attendees under the age of 30 and range from people in their first role to CEOs and Lion-winners. In his role as Chairperson, Law will support the Festival in developing this next generation of talent across the training programme for students and rising stars, as well as tailored learning opportunities for senior marketers.

“We have as much to learn from the next generation as they do us, and I am hoping to meet my future boss over the course of the program”, Law said.
