GLOBAL: adam&eveDDB (London) was the most-awarded agency in the world last year, according to The Gunn Report 2016, while Samsung was the most-awarded advertiser.

The Gunn Report – the global index of creative excellence in advertising – identifies the most awarded and applauded work in the world each year and its creators, based on the results of 45 global, regional and national creative award contests.

This is the fourth time adam&eveDDB (London) has topped the table, making it the most successful creative Agency in the history of The Gunn Report. Two others, AlmapBBDO and Wieden+Kennedy USA, have both won three times.

adam&eveDDB (London) was, by a large margin, the most awarded Agency in Film, taking three of the top six spots in the table for: Harvey Nichols Loyalty App "Shoplifters", John Lewis Home Insurance "Tiny Dancer" and John Lewis "The Man On The Moon" .

For the first time, two agencies from New Zealand were ranked in the top three: Colenso BBDO (Auckland) in second and Y&R New Zealand (Auckland) in equal third.

Samsung topped Advertisers table for the first time ever, ahead of Burger King and Volkswagen, with a broad range of work from ten countries contributing to their position.

"Overall, we have seen some wonderfully creative ideas shining through in 2016 with brand purpose a strong theme," said Emma Wilkie, managing director of The Gunn Report.

"Whilst previous winners still exhibit their greatness, new stars are rising up the ranks," she added.

Kate Stanners, guest editor of The Gunn Report 2016, observed how hard it was to make any one of the ideas in the report.

"Ideas are fragile; they can collapse at any point," she said. "Sometimes an idea is pure and simple, you can feel the power of it from its inception; others have been shaped and crafted into great. It takes passion, tenacity, it takes a team and a great client. None of it is easy, but greatness comes in not giving up."
