Xinshu Zhao

Xinshu Zhao (PhD, Wisconsin-Madison; MA, Stanford; BA, Fudan University in Shanghai, China) is a visiting professor of journalism and mass communication at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus, and an associate professor of journalism and mass communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously, he was an assistant professor of communications at the Pennsylvania State University from 1989-1990, a statistical consultant with Madison Academic Computing Center in Madison, Wisconsin from 1986-1989, an intern reporter with Xinhua News Agency and People's Daily in China from 1981-1982, and a labor worker on the assembly lines of Shanghai 27th Radio Factory from 1973-1978. Zhao's research has appeared in such journals as Asian Survey, Communication Research, Comparative Education Review, International Journal of Advertising, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, and Public Opinion Quarterly.
