Winston Fletcher

 

Winston Fletcher entered advertising after graduating from Cambridge University. After a brief spell as a trainee copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather he joined Robert Sharp & Partners on the account management side, where he became a board director and partner at the age of 25. In 1974 he formed his own agency and sold it six years later to Ted Bates Inc. Within three years he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive of its UK operation. In 1985 he left to set up a new agency, now Delaney, Fletcher, Slaymaker, Delaney, which has annual billings exceeding £70 million. Its clients include the Halifax Building Society, Amstrad, Panasonic, National Savings and the Central Office of Information. He is a member of the Council of The Advertising Standards Authority and President of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising. He writes incessantly on advertising and marketing for the national and advertising trade press and has published seven books, including Creative People: How to Manage them and Maximise their Creativity (Hutchinson Business Books, 1990).
