John Wanamaker (among others) memorably said: Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I dont know which half. Were he still with us today he would be more likely to say: All of the money I spend on internet advertising is wasted; the trouble is I dont know why.
Brand owners are increasingly sceptical about the value of online advertising, with recent research from Jupiter showing that 40% of European advertisers do not plan to spend anything on online advertising this year.
