I wonder whether Dr. Barry really read my paper entitled 'Does Advertising Cause a Hierarchy of Effects?' that appeared in Volume 41/No. 6 (November/December 2001) of this Journal.
Several of his comments in 'In Defense of the Hierarchy of Effects' simply misrepresent what I actually said.
Dr. Barry says that my paper 'sets up a variety of straw man issues.' There are five of these 'straw man issues', as follows:
- 'Advertising, alone, causes the hierarchy of effects.' ...
