For many years, its been accepted wisdom that advertising taxes arent proposed in good economic times. Government usually turns to ad taxes when a downturn creates pressure for new revenue. That idea was turned on its head, however, when two presidential candidates one a liberal Democrat, the other, a conservative Republican, each proposed cutting advertising tax deductibility.
