If the privacy issue was heating up over the past months, it has now reached the combustion point. Activities by the federal and state governments and advocacy groups, self-regulatory business initiatives, and news reports, all have placed a white-hot spotlight on privacy.

Despite a wide range of new legislation and regulatory initiatives, ANA believes there is still time for self-regulation to work. If sufficient progress is not made, however, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to stave off overly restrictive legislation in the next...
