The UK gaming market grew by 4.5 million video game players in the nine years leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic (an increase of 21% since 2012 - GameTrack UK 2020 Q1). During this time the profile of those playing video games in the UK noticeably shifted from the stereotype of teenagers in dark bedrooms, to a broader, more inclusive user-base, as gaming increasingly reached a wider demographic.
