Playing music and checking the weather are the two most popular tasks to complete on a smart speaker, according to the latest Adobe research. Nearly three-quarters of smart speaker owners in the US play music on their device, while almost two-thirds check the weather forecast. The popularity of both tasks is up from seven months before.
However, more advanced tasks are less common. The share of owners who use their smart speaker for shopping equalled 26% in February 2019, down four percentage points from August 2018. However, this may be a result of limited product functionality – only 20% of marketers are currently prepared for voice-enabled commerce.
