The amount of data used by each smartphone is forecast to grow by 233.3% between 2019 and 2025, according to the latest data from Ericsson. Each smartphone will use an expected 24 gigabytes (GB) per month in 2025, an increase from 7.2 GB per month in 2019.
North America will lead the field in 2025, with each smartphone using 45 GB per month – the second-largest increase (429.4%). Ericsson puts this down to wide uptake in 5G subscriptions along with immersive consumer services using virtual and augmented reality.
