Globally, Amazon earned $3.6bn in net sales from advertising in Q3 2019. This includes some non-advertising related net sales. Advertising’s share of total net sales was 5.1% in Q3 2019, an increase from 4.4% the year before. This is the smallest share among all net sales segments.

Advertising net sales has increased by $1.1bn (43.7%) year-on-year. This compares to growth of 122.2% in the third quarter of 2018.

Advertising contributed 8.1% to total net sales year-on-year growth in Q3 2019, a decrease from 10.7% the year before. This is a larger contribution than physical stores but a smaller contribution than subscription services, online stores, third-party seller services and Amazon Web Services.
