Global media costs are expected to fall by 0.9% this year, according to the latest forecasts from ECI Media Management, published today. This is a softer rate of deflation than was expected in Q2 2020, with digital rises at odds with steep falls among offline media.
Digital media will see rising costs this year, with video formats up 4.1% year-on-year and display formats up 2.6%.
All traditional media are expected to be deflationary this year, with magazines and newspapers hit hardest, falling 11.5% and 9.5% respectively. Out-of-home media see the softest decline, dropping 2.7% collectively.
