86% of Southeast Asian consumers have cut big purchases for next six months

Just 14% of Southeast Asian consumers are continuing their plans to make a big purchase in the next six months in the face of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, according to research by mobile advertising platform AdColony.

Consumers are instead purchasing more online. Over two-fifths (44%) say they will purchase groceries or household items online, providing a boost to the wider FMCG market. One-fifth (22%) of consumers also say they will be shifting more of their purchases from offline to online.
