Online time via mobile shows rapid growth in India

An overview of time spent online by device in India, 2012 to H1 2018.

Online time via mobile devices in India has increased rapidly since 2012 and could overtake online PC/laptop/tablet in the coming years, the latest data from GlobalWebIndex show. Between 2012 and H1 2018, online mobile consumption increased 150.4% while PC/laptop/tablet fell six minutes.

Online mobile saw the greatest increases between 2012 and 2015, with an average year-on-year growth rate of 27.8%. This average fell to 6.6% from 2016 to H1 2018. Despite increases for PC/laptop/tablet to a peak of 4:42 (hours:minutes) in 2014, this growth had been undone by 2017 when consumption was 4:03.
