TikTok leads the social pack as user activity doubles

An overview of the growth in consumption per user of major social apps in 2020.

TikTok was the social media winner of 2020 as growth in its user activity far outpaced large social apps like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, according to an analysis of App Annie data on Android mobile devices.

Across 16 countries, TikTok's average monthly consumption per user nearly doubled between 2019 and 2020 (+94.1%). However, the average increase for the other top five largest social apps was just 11.0% over the same period.
