Half of Americans have boycotted a brand, rises to 67% of high income consumers

An overview of consumer participation and perceived effectiveness of brand boycotts.

One-half of Americans say they have boycotted a brand in protest of the business and this rises to two-thirds for high-income consumers (those with a household income over $80k), according to data from YouGov.

There's little variation in the popularity of brand boycotts between men and women.

However, older consumers are more likely to have stopped buying goods or services in protest. Just 37% of 18-24 year-olds have boycotted a brand, compared to 57% of consumers older than 55 – possibly having lived through more corporate scandals.
