GDPR has biggest impact on news sites

The change in the average number of trackers per page by website category between April and July 2018.

News sites saw the greatest drop in trackers per page after GDPR was introduced, according to the latest data from Cliqz and Ghostery. The average number of trackers per page on news sites fell 7.5% between April and July 2018, after GDPR was introduced at the end of May. Across all website categories, the average number of trackers fell by 3.4%.

E-commerce and recreation saw the second and third largest drops, down 6.9% and 6.7% respectively over the period. Reference sites, including Google, dropped 5.1% while business sites saw the smallest reduction at 1.5%. Banking was...
