Digital is the preferred method of payment in India, according to the latest research from YouGov and ACI Worldwide. Over two-fifths (41.6%) of respondents said they prefer digital payments when paying merchants or retailers during the festive season. Card payments are second, at 29.1%, while cash follows just behind at 27.4%.
Men are marginally more likely to prefer digital payments, 43.9% compared to the 39.3% recorded for women. While Gen Z and millennials clearly prefer digital payments, card payments are overwhelmingly popular for Baby Boomers. Gen X is split between card (38.0%) and digital (34.3%) payments.
