AVOD revenue to top $25bn this year

Revenue among advertising-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) services is expected to reach $26.7bn this year as a result of consumer demand for low-cost video streaming content, according to forecasts from Digital TV Research.

Despite AVOD's growth, paid subscription services (SVOD) like Netflix have been the real winners as a result of a boom in viewing in 2020. SVOD's projected revenue growth of 27.0% this year to $61.1bn is more than double AVOD's expected rate of growt partly explains this.
