Every year in Northern Ireland (NI) enough waste is thrown away to cover the whole country. Landfill space is quickly running out, and the Government has set ambitious recycling targets to meet European waste directives.The ‘Wake Up To Waste’ campaign had firstly to jolt the NI public into realising the extent, seriousness and immediacy of the problem, and secondly to inform them on how to manage waste sustainably.
