UN Women: The missing peace

United Nations Women Lebanon, an NGO, increased its overall reach with #TheMissingPeace which removed half the alphabet from communications to show how losing women’s voices affects peace dialogues.

November 15, 2021. Lebanon woke up to a strange tweet.

Speculation and confusion flooded social feeds.

50% of letters were removed from the tweet. It was intentional, to protest the exclusion of 50% of the population from peace dialogues.

Peace agreements are 64% less likely to fail and peace is more likely to last for two years if women are at the peace table – UN Security Resolution 1325
