Introduction

Emotions are subjective, and people will differ with respect to their emotional responses towards a given fragrance. Methods that enable us to measure whichparticular emotions are experienced in response to fragrances can support developers in their attempts to shape the emotional impact of the fragrances. Understanding this emotional impact requires theoretical propositions about how these emotional responses are related to the characteristics of the fragrance and the characteristics of the person who experiences the emotions.
