In 1898 a white dog with black ears named Nipper was born on the canvas of Francis Barraud, whose painting, His Master's Voice, depicted a dog's head bent toward a phonograph's horn. In 1901 Nipper became the trademark for the Victor Talking Machine Company, which was bought out by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in 1929.
