For a number of years now, Philips Design has applied a methodology known as the 'multiple encounter approach' to conduct people research in supporting the strategic design process. This approach often involves home visits, extensive observation, task-setting and in-depth personal interviews. During the course of this year, two projects have been successfully carried out in which this methodology has been translated into research in virtual environments.
