It all began on June 10, 1998, with my luncheon speech to the Advertising Women of New York entitled, 'The Media ... Children ... and Advertising' in which I announced the formation of the Family Friendly Programming Forum.

During this presentation, I stood before a group of ad folks and asked each one of them to take a look at what programs their advertising was supporting. At the same time, I asked them to take a look at what options were out there for them to support....
