In an industry that seems ever more reliant on metrics, one number stood out at the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) annual "Masters of Marketing" gathering: with more than 1,600 registered attendees, attendance for the 2010 event in Orlando was 33% higher than the record 2009 audience.

On a far greater macro scale, Bob Liodice, ANA president/ceo, announced to a full-house morning assembly that new research lends quantitative evidence to his assertion that, "Advertising is a major engine of the economy."...
