STIB-MIVB: Voices of Brussels

Public transport service Société des Transports intercommunaux de Bruxelles (STIB) created an out-of-home engagement campaign in Brussels in 2020 to protect revenue and build positive brand sentiment.

Objectives

STIB (Société des Transports intercommunaux de Bruxelles) organises public transportation in Brussels, Belgium. When COVID-19 came along, public transportation was highly discouraged for safety reasons, people worked from home.

The result? STIB's usage dropped 80% for weeks. This drop had 2 major financial consequences. 1) STIB misses out on a lot of revenue. 2) Many travelers have a fixed subscription. If they start reimbursing their money, STIB could have a major cashflow problem. We by all means had to prevent that. To give you an idea: in a normal year (2019), STIB spent over €2,200,000 reimbursing almost 9,000 customers....
