GAIL (India) Limited, the youngest Maharatna is India's largest natural gas company. In 2009, GAIL was mandated to lay 893 Kms long natural gas pipeline connecting three states to the existing national natural gas grid -Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Kochi-Koottanad-Bangalore-Mangalore Pipeline (KKBMPL) project was to be commissioned by 2012. The Kerala leg of 505 Kms long pipeline was planned in two phases. Only phase-1 of approx 49 Kms was completed by late 2013; Phase-2 (456 Kms) of the project was stuck at land acquisition stage...
