A few months before the Volkswagen emission scandal broke, we produced a white paper on how the car industry has handled crises in the past, and how approaches need to be modified in the age of social media. We analysed the behaviour of the particular car brands involved in each crisis and made recommendations on product recalls to ensure minimum reputational damage.
