The Mexican Association of Wind Energy A.C. (AMDEE) was born in 2005 to promote the generation and development of wind energy in Mexico, representing the developers of wind projects before the authorities, economic sectors and society in general.

After the September 2017 earthquakes, which strongly impacted the communities of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca, AMDEE and the wind companies in the region, joined together in an initiative called "Eolicos con el Istmo" (Wind companies with the Isthmus) contributing with big and valuable donations of initiative of the Oaxaca - AMDEE Fund.

The Oaxaca - AMDEE Fund was presented in 2018 with the purpose of designing, promoting and financing actions and strategic projects for the development and welfare of the communities of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in the state of Oaxaca. According to OXFAM, 49 percent of the inhabitants of municipalities of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec suffer from poverty or social inequality, making the region one of the most vulnerable in Mexico. Half of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, mostly the region located in Oaxaca, has a strong presence of indigenous communities.
