INTRODUCTION

There is an increasing usage of voting within the media. Rarely can you watch television in an evening and not encounter some form of interactive polling. Initially there was voting for programmes such as Big Brother and talent shows. However, this has been taken further and there are sometimes whole programmes dedicated to viewer questioning e.g. Test the Nation. In addition, news & current affairs programmes now frequently use real-time polls to provide consumer input to discussions.
