Noxzema, the product of a small Baltimore, Maryland, business that eventually grew to national prominence and became a part of the Procter & Gamble corporate universe, started out as the brand name of a skin cream product. By 1944 the Noxzema name was attached to other products as well, including shaving cream. In the mid-1960s the Noxell Corporation (formerly the Noxzema Chemical Company) reintroduced its shaving cream in aerosol form. Noxell chose an advertising campaign that would grab male attention.
