Playing their part: How Sky is engaging sports fans in the quest for sustainability

Sky has been tracking the attitudes and actions of its sports subscribers as it seeks to bring them on its journey to achieve net zero by 2030.

Sport and sustainability have more in common than most fans probably think, Sky’s Head of Insight Trevor Roberts told the MRS Sustainability Summit (London, November 2022).

He explained that nearly a quarter of stadiums in the top four UK professional football leagues are under annual threat of flooding, or will even be under water by 2050; meanwhile, one-third of grassroots-level pitches in England are losing roughly six weeks a season due to flood damage.
