The Pitney Bowes Inc. print campaign "Now Every Office Can Have One!" ran from March 1954 to November 1957 to promote the benefits of postage meters, then a popular tool in office automation. The series of nine ads featured captions along with male and female cartoon characters in various moods to show how office life could be made better by a Pitney Bowes desktop model postage meter. As the ads illustrated, an office worker simply pulled down a lever to provide the proper postage for mail.
