Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. eventually grew to become a global leader in the consumer electronics audio and video markets and to be recognized around the world for its leadership in optical disc technology, car electronics, and the consumer entertainment markets. By 1994 it had been in business for more than 50 years but had less name recognition in the United States than some of its competitors, such as Sony, JVC, Aiwa, or Fleetwood.
