ORINIGIRI: Beyond a product

ORINIGIRI, an artistic form of eating, was used at the centre of a campaign to help the people of Japan return to towns that had lost customers due to the COVID-19 pandemic through a shopping street project.

Objectives

Natural disasters or global pandemics like COVID-19 can occur at any time. The important thing is how to recover after them. "Man shall not live by bread or rice alone."

We have attempted a project aimed at revitalizing people's minds through design. That is the workshop using paper craft 'ORINIGIRI' at the Tohoku revitalization event starting in 2015. We wanted to prove that creativity gives people the power to eliminate loneliness and recover.
