According to McKinsey, by mid-2002 more than 40 million households and businesses and 100 million people around the world had access to broadband, making it one of the fastest growing technology-based consumer offerings ever. The rapid rise in popularity has brought with it the need for a technology that harnesses the potential of these high-speed connections to the internet. This technology was streaming media.
