The Employer Skills Survey (ESS) is one of the largest business surveys in the world, interviewing c 90,000 businesses in each iteration In its current form the survey started in 2011, however it builds on a long history and celebrates its 20-year anniversary this year, with fieldwork starting last week. The study is commissioned by the Department of Education (DfE) and has been conducted biennially by IFF Research since its inception It informs UK-wide public policy and provides "the" comprehensive source of labour market intelligence on the skills challenges UK employers face.
